Brighid's Mantle Sacred Arts
Lughnasadh celebration next Saturday, the 31st of July. It is an event that has been happening for 5 years; this will be Brighid's Mantle's first year participating.
There will be athletic-style games & contests all afternoon, in the spirit of fun & Celtic tradition. They will be followed by a ceremony & vegetarian dinner. Then, there will be a bardic competition, in the categories of vocals, drums, instruments, & poetry. Brighid's Mantle will facilitate the ritual & host the bardic competition (which will be voted on openly, by the crowd ~ no judges!!!).
The location is:
16 Chatham Road, Asheville
Off Merrimon Avenue, by the old Hop
And the schedule is (approximately):
Registration/Team Selection - 12 noon to 2pm
Warmups/Yoga/Opening Circle - 2pm
Athletic Games - 2:30-6:30pm
Lughnasadh Ritual - 6:30pm
Food, Music/Poetry Competitions - 7pm
Awards and such - 8:30pm
Music/Fireside fun - darkish until ??
There will be a $10 fee for a t-shirt to participate in the games & a vegetarian dinner. It's $5 for kids & probably $5 for just the dinner (no games/t-shirt).
